SOULMATE AU
[So you know what makes the world a rad place to live in?
Superpowers.
Superpowers errywhere.
Well, not EVERYWHERE, since you need your soulmate to do said powers, but it is common enough that there are plenty of superhero duos and villain duos and magic everywhere. By modern day, it is something that the world has had for centuries, and everyone is used to it by now.
The funny thing is, finding your soulmate and gaining your powers is seen as a milestone in becoming an adult. Which is a little weird for people in Nanaki's situation, where they meet their soulmate when they are only 16.
Nanaki isn't from Texas, but she is there for a short time, as part of a summer exchange program. Basically, she gets to see America, but since it is over summer break she is there more as a tourist than as a student. But since it is still an exchange program, she is there by herself, with a host family, and on this day she is traveling the city by herself!
She still has trouble remembering exactly which city it is, though. She remembers that it starts with an A. Maybe.
But yes, suffice to say, she does not expect to meet her soulmate in a foreign country while she is minding her own business and looking to go to some touristy place. Which is absolutely the most perfect time for her to meet her special someone, right?]

Naturally, they set the meeting point to one of the touristy areas of Austin. Why not? Okay, he has a million reasons why not that immediately come to mind, but whatever. Dave does what he wants, etc etc.
He kind of regrets this decision, but not even remotely enough to ask a douchebag time traveler to go back and change how everything happened. Well, maybe change it so that he meets his soulmate when he's a little older, but whatever. It's fine. Maybe.
Dave is walking near Nanaki. He doesn't think much of her, other than a passing thought of, 'She's cute.'
That is, until he's suddenly got black crow wings sprouting from his back.]
What the actual fuck?!
[He gives no fucks about the disapproving looks he's getting for the expletive. He's more worried about the sudden weight of the goddamn wings and accidentally hitting someone with them. Dave is also pretty sure he's going to be extremely annoyed if he's just ruined his shirt.
...good thing he's about an hour early for that meet-up.]
