[Oh good, food! Even though Mafuyu was nervous, and eating while nervous was difficult at best, the severe lack of supplies in the settlement meant that every meal was a blessing that should not be ignored. Mafuyu was all too happy to hop down from her perch and immediately spring into place at the rickety old table they had set up in the kitchen/dining room area. You didn't have to tell her twice to eat, especially when she wasn't the one doing the cooking.]
Where in the world did you get an egg from? I thought the mayor had all the chickens!
[Calling him a 'mayor' was a bit of a stretch. It was more like he was the guy with all the resources and all the hired men to make sure he kept those resources. Everyone else just listened to him usually because it was the best way to survive in the settlement. Getting singled out by him was never a good idea, it always meant getting the worst jobs. Like having to go out scouting in unscouted buildings, or having to trek through the more dangerous of the hunting grounds. All places where the risk of being bitten or encountering spores was high.
Mafuyu wasn't going to complain, though. It had been ages since she had last eaten eggs, or even other real food like that. Being small and terrible with guns, Mafuyu usually got the short end of the stick when it came to rations. 'Save the real food for the people who can actually do some good with it', or so she was told.]
