Shiro would have commented on the sudden pause in Rin's words, if he weren't busy trying to figure out why Rin looked so damn familiar. He had seen this face before, he knew he had, but he couldn't put a name to the face, nor could he figure out where he had seen this boy. The academy? No, there were no half-demons in any of the classes that year. Was he an exorcist? Maybe, but he was young enough that Shiro would have noticed him before if he were already a Meister. The prodigies tend to get recognition like that.

Maybe it was a family relation. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that it wasn't Rin himself who was familiar, but rather his face. He must be related to someone Shiro knew, or maybe it was a one-in-a-million chance of a facetwin.

"You got any older brothers or sisters?"

No recognition of what they had just been talking about. Shiro didn't have the time nor the patience to politely change the subject. He had places to go, things to do, and he wanted an answer right away.
