WHOOPS another thing
[The best part about going to a nice, fancy school is that they get to take all the awesome school trips. Sure, it's supposed to be for educational purposes- this one in particular is a four-day trip to a beach-side town to study tidepools and the bits of life that live within them- but who says they have to be entirely about education? Satoshi certainly isn't.
Which is why he very quickly sneaks off from the main class as soon as he can. A five-hour train ride, followed by an hour of getting settled into hotel rooms and then lunch, and he is already going stir-crazy. It is the last week of June, and he's going to be on summer break as soon as they get back from this trip, so learning is not something he intends on doing.
Fortunately, since everyone on the trip is 11th graders, the teachers aren't keeping a close eye on them. So when their afternoon lessons start (exploring the beach to scout out places to observe for the next couple days), Satoshi quickly slips behind a rocky outcropping and heads over to a part of the beach most people aren't going to, thanks to the uneven rocks and lack of a sandy beach. Once he is well out of sight, almost under one of the many long, tall piers, he will sit down on one of the rocks to relax for a bit.
Satoshi is looking out over the water, watching the waves make their way to the rocks, so if anything strange were to swim up, he might see it. Not that he's expecting anything, though. Even though it's almost July, the water is a bit cold for humans to swim in.]

rolls in finally
However as he comes nearer and nearer to that location and the surface of the water, he notices an extra blob of color that's not normally there. Someone else is already there before him. A human, at that! So he slows a bit and edges closer and closer until he's able to confirm that it's not a fisherman or anyone with something like a crazy harpoon. Then he pops his head up out of the water. ]
Hey!
[ Yes very smooth entrance. Very mystical. He's just excited, this is the first time he's gotten so close to one, and they don't even look that far in age. ]
aww yee
He doesn't look familiar to Satoshi, but to be fair, Satoshi doesn't really pay attention in class anyway. This guy could easily be in one of the other classes in his grade and he just never noticed him before. Though it makes Satoshi wonder how he managed to get into the water so quickly, especially with how cold the water is. Surely someone would have heard him going OH SHIT IT'S COLD or something.
Regardless, Satoshi balances his notepad on his knees and holds up one hand to wave to Seijuurou.]
Hey! Isn't it cold in there?
[He has no idea yet that Seijuurou is a mermaid.]

Beside himself when the human replies, Seijuurou grins and then shakes his head. His hand slaps casually against the surface of the water to create a small splash. ]
Not at all, it's pretty nice up here!
[ Because of course it's a lot cooler where he came from. And speaking of- ]
Where have you come from?

From a small town, up by Tokyo. My whole class is here on a class trip.
I'm Aramiya Satoshi, by the way.

[ He looks around as if to seek out these other humans nearby. Of course he doesn't really see any, but he does lift out of the water a bit more now. And honestly, he has very little idea what Tokyo is, so ... ]
My name's Seijuurou! Can I come closer?
[ In hindsight he shouldn't ask because if it was dangerous then it's not like the human was going to tell him so. But oh well, it slipped out anyway. He just wants to get as close as he can. This chance may never come again. ]
