Shop Visits! (Open post!)

[Maybe you stumbled upon the front gate to a strange house while walking in your neighborhood. Maybe you found it nestled between skyscrapers in a downtown area. Or maybe you didn't stumble across it at all, and instead fell into the backyard or something. The way you got there matters little. What really counts is that you're there for one reason: a wish.
A want. A desire. Something you can't get on your own. Something you want so badly that you would do anything to get it.
Well, you've come to the right place.
There's plenty to see in the house. The foyer is nice, and the kitchen is well-stocked. There's several other rooms as well: a sitting room, a dining room, a couple bedrooms for the people who wander upstairs to look, and a rather luxurious bathroom too. Several rooms open to the outside as well, so it's easy to come inside by many different paths.
But ultimately, you will end up face-to-face with a screen that opens into a room with a table and two chairs which overlooks the backyard.
And in that room, you will find the shopkeeper.]

[What happens now? Well, that's up to you, isn't it?]

That's partially why Watanuki already has sake and cups out on the front porch, in view of the gate and waiting for Yosano's arrival. It's an easy request to fulfill, so he's going to be ready for it.
(The other part is that he's picked up Yuuko's drinking habits and is a bit of a lush himself at times.)
So when he sees Yosano there near the gates, he smiles and gives her a friendly wave, inviting her in. The unconsious pull of the shop is enough to get her this close, so he will invite her in the rest of the way.]

Yet she didn't, and those possibilities barely had occurred to her before they melted away.
For how distant he should've been from her, a yard's length between the gate she was at and his seat at the porch, she could picture his welcoming expression clearly, and her gut told her there was nothing to worry about.
She'd been walking for a while, hadn't she? Now she was being invited in, and she got the impression this was the kind of place with zero chances of encountering entitled assholes she'd have to punch if they didn't back down.
Yosano clasped her bag in front as she entered, giving the rest of the building exterior a cursory glance before tipping her head at the man.]
Pardon the intrusion. [Yosano might be blunt, but she did mind her manners.] What sort of place is this?
no subject
Spoilers: that's exactly it.]
It's alright, the intrusion is expected. This is a shop.
[After certain messy encounters recently, Watanuki has decided to not specify the 'wish shop' part at first. Let people make assumptions about the kind of wares Watanuki sells, rather than filling in the blanks for them. Then they're less likely to distrust him from the start.]
Aah, but it is break time at the moment, so I cannot offer any services currently. But if you would like, you could join me for a drink? The company would be nice.
[Yosano does have a wish of some sort, she wouldn't be able to see the shop if she didn't. But she also seems like the type who wouldn't open up easily about it. It's better to make friends first, Watanuki figures.
Plus, he really does want to just drink a bit.]

[Certainly not a modern storefront. A traditional craft? It wouldn't be unheard of especially if it was a family-run business from several generations ago, and those usually had established clients.
She drew closer at his invitation, noticing the two cups he already had out, and smoothened her skirt as she sat down. Her bag, she placed beside her before folding her hands on her lap. She was a little uncertain why he'd be open to inviting strangers over for a drink, but chalked it up to friendliness. If he ran this place, he could certainly do whatever he liked.]
If you or your other guest don't mind.
[He would be right that there are things she doesn't talk about easily, and she's learned to be practical with how she tackled problems. There was no room for hesitation if it meant someone dying on her watch, and any regrets she'd have must come after.]
Do you ask passers-by to drink with you often?
no subject
When I bring out the sake, someone always seems to come by. A friend, a customer, a mooch, just about anyone. So I made a habit of bringing a second cup with me, so that if a guest does arrive then I do not need to go to the kitchen for a second cup.
[Okay, maybe not so much of a mystery. Just preparedness on Watanuki's behalf. And as for the rest:]
If you are here, then you are meant to be here. It seems like sharing greetings over a drink is a good way to say 'nice to meet you', doesn't it?
no subject
[Or so she's heard Kunikida complain almost every time he and Dazai returned from an assignment. Really, when would he ever learn that his reactions were what made it entertaining for Dazai.]
Being meant to be anywhere sounds a bit contrived for a coincidence, but I agree with a greeting over drinks.
Yosano Akiko.

[Definitely a strange family name, given that it literally means 'April 1st.' At least his given name is somewhat normal.
But he's pouring sake into the two cups, one of which he will offer to Yosano.]
What do you do for a living?
no subject
[She accepted the cup graciously, her gloved hands contrasting the ceramic.]
I'm a doctor at the Armed Detective Agency.
[Yosano took a sip, and blinked in surprise at the clear liquid in her cup. It was fragrant and gentle, a clean kind of taste that drew the drinker into its warmth.]
This is good. Where did you get it?
no subject
[How surprising, to find one of Kunikida's colleagues. But it's a pleasant surprise at least, Watanuki is sure that Kunikida wouldn't work with someone who was a terrible person.
Watanuki does look a little proud at the praise he gets for the liquor. His boozer habits have taught him plenty about good alcohol, and his job affords him the chance to get many rare and delicious types.]
It was payment for my services a few months ago. It seemed like a good day to drink it, what with the wonderful weather today.
no subject
[Color her surprised. While Watanuki seemed the type Kunikida would get along with, Kunikida hardly took side trips unless it was within his schedule and for practical reasons. She wondered if he was a previous customer, or if they'd met on an old assignment.]
The weather, hmm..? [Actually, she hadn't noticed. She peered at the sky above, then down at the cup she held. The sake reflected afternoon blue and wisps of cloud. She exhaled softly, shoulders dropping, and raised her glass to him with a wry smile.] Sounds about right.
To a good meeting.

[Watanuki doesn't disclose the nature of wishes as a rule. Kunikida's wishes are relatively tame ones, though. 'More of this specific paper' is a simple, if costly, wish to grant. It's only unfortunate that Kunikida has thus far never joined Watanuki for a drink. Every visit has been a business one. THe poor guy needed to relax a bit.
He nods to her toast, holding his cup up as well.]
To a good meeting, then.
[It's an excellent reason to drink, at least. Watanuki doesn't have many drinking partners anymore, so meeting a new one is fine by him. And a toast like that is practically a friendship blessing too.]
whoops I fumbled drinking etiquette but oh well
At the toast, she drained the rest of her cup, and savored the moment.]
Your shop's remarkably peaceful. I can't imagine a guy like him actually relaxing here with how he busies himself.
pfft its alright
[High-strung men never take Mokona well. Luckily Mokona likes to mess with men like that. Plus Kunikida is a little like what Watanuki used to be like- and still is, truthfully, he's just gotten better at hiding it- so of course Mokona would like teasing him.
Watanuki is drinking slowly from his cup now, letting the liquor roll over his tongue. This stuff never lasted long, so it's important to enjoy it.]

[Watanuki certainly sounds amused by it all. Mostly because it meant he wasn't the one being teased.]
He always speaks highly of your agency, you know. He never mentions any of you by name, but he does talk about things that have happened. He says he's annoyed by it, but his tone suggests otherwise.
