[The kids are gone, and the adults can... I mean right now, Stein's drinking coffee out of a beaker and smoking while dissecting some kind of weird fish on the dining room table.]

[Shiro is just sitting at that table, eating some oatmeal and not really paying attention to Stein's everything. He's lived with the weirdo long enough to get used to this nonsense by now.]

...hey. The kids are all gone, aren't they?

[Something something beach day up on the island or whatever.]

Yeah, they went up to the island for the day. [Which means no one has told him off for drinking out of a beaker or smoking inside or dissecting some kind of weird fish on the dining room table.] If we're lucky, they'll decide to camp up there or something.

Maybe. I bet they'll think camping under the stars is cool or something.

[He takes another bite of his oatmeal, considering the options here.]

When you're done with your project there, let's go take a bath.

Together? [Hm. A proposition?

Probably, seeing as they've been like, in some kind of nebulously defined relationship for a while here. But Stein keep getting caught slightly off guard anyway.]

Yeah. The tub's big enough for both of us, or we could just use the shower instead.

[It absolutely was a proposition. They hadn't really defined what they were, but their everything included occasional sex. And Shiro wasn't one to let an opportunity slide by him.]

[Having an actually appropriately sized hot tub is one extremely good thing about living in the Villa, and now he's going to be slightly distracted from his weird fish dissection by considering putting that tub to good use.]

Yeah, let me just finish here and then we can get cleaned up.

[The world might be going to shit around them, but Luca doesn't care in that moment. They are far away from the battlefield, tucked away in a quiet inn with a few hours to keep the company. By morning, Luca would be off to destinations unknown, as would his bed partner. But they could ignore the troubles of the world for one night, right?

That is Luca's line of thinking, at least, and it leaves him with a coy smile as he tugs the rather handsome redhead long to the room he's renting for the night.]

Let's continue this conversation somewhere private, hmm?

[The country is at war, and that means Sylvain is far busier than he ever has been, protecting friends and allies. It also means he wants a distraction even more than he used to. In some ways he’s less of an apparent slouch than when he was at the Academy, but in other ways his habits are still just as bad.

Like, for example, picking up complete strangers in bars. He has a good feeling about this one though- he doesn’t try to make things complicated. He doesn’t want to know anything too personal about Sylvain. He’s on the same page, and that helps Sylvain relax just a inch. Not enough to take off the mask of course, but enough to really enjoy himself without wondering if he’s going to get a marriage proposal the next morning.

He smirks right back at Luca, happy to be led away.]

I couldn’t agree more.

[Honestly, it's better to not ask questions. Especially not questions you don't want the answers to. And while Luca's actions are as much of an act as Sylvain's are, they're a bit more relaxed than the face he puts on around everyone else. It's easier to let go when there's no consequences for it once the morning comes.

Also, he's technically still married to his wife, so there definitely won't be any marriage proposals. There's a reason Luca isn't giving his last name, after all.

'Private' ends up being one of the standard inn rooms. Luca would have liked something a bit more extravagant, but in these times just having a bed was often more than he got on the road. Having a solid door is also important too, especially considering how he'll lean his back against that door once he's shut and locked it.]

So. Shall we see what you have under all that armor?

[There are some questions Sylvain wants to ask, but they're mostly things like "where?" "how hard?" and "want more?"

It won't be the first time Sylvain has been a homewrecker and it won't be the last. It isn't that he takes especial pleasure in it or anything, but married people are often safest for reasons of disclosure and not wanting to be chased after. Luca feels safe in both regards, he thinks as he follows the man into his room and the door shuts behind them.

He takes the nonverbal cue and steps into the other man's space, backing him against the door a little.]

Hopefully nothing disappointing, [He quips, reaching to loosen his gauntlets first, which he sets carefully aside before reaching into his armpits to unbuckle his pauldrons. He reaches for Luca's hand and guides it to the buckle that holds his chestplate in place.]
