Well for starters, when you feel bad about something you've done, you go in this box here and admit to what you did to receive penance. Then all is forgiven.

Speaking of which, helping destroy a planet would probably be a lifetime of community service, if not longer. I'd advise against any planet-destroying in the future.

So long as no one else tries to destroy earth again, that shouldn't be a problem.

But if I'm understanding you correctly, if someone commits a crime and evades the police long enough to come here and confess, they won't be arrested?

Oh no, of course not. Being arrested and serving time for a crime is a part of paying penance. Confession is more to save your soul, rather than to avoid jail time.

...So what exactly is a soul? I've gathered that all of God's creations are supposed to have one, but what about those of us made by someone else?

So I don't usually put in for this shit, but I figure we're up against some fucking death-god-cult, and its been weighing on my brain, and if you're on the other side you probably been thinking about this a long time and talking to a lot of people with all sorts of opinions and worries... and you know what, I figure in here we gotta put our hackles down against each other... so...

[She forces herself to stop rambling nervously, folding her hands forcefully together to keep them from scratching nervously at her hair or her chin. She doesn't like being in here, but even if it's from a religious stand-point, Jo is drawn to the idea of anonymous advice from what she assumes is a tempered councilor. She can just shuck the information that she doesn't like, right?]

Is it a sin that I keep finding myself happier here, sometimes, then I ever felt at home? Does that mean I should've gone to hell to begin with?

[Shiro's eyebrow twitches when he hears that voice, but he pushes aside any annoyed thoughts for now. Part of the job is being kind and helpful to anyone who asks for advice, and that's what he's there to do.]

I suppose it would depend on the reason why you're happy. What about this place makes you happy?

People, I guess. [She's been thinking about it. It's probably for the best that they can't see one another; she reacts poorly to annoyance, it's been proven.] Everyone's suffering through the same shit. Not that that makes me happy. More... uh. I guess, I'm happy I'm not the only one.

So it's more the camaraderie then?

Uh, yeah, I guess so. Are people supposed to do that when they're in hell? I thought it was all everyone's on their own, in it for the long run, marathoning their own fucking horrible shit and fuck everybody else.

[lionson]

Well, we're not actually in Hell, so that helps. We do get a little bit of downtime to make friends and such.

There's nothing wrong with that, by the way. Humans are supposed to make friends, even in stressful locations such as this one. And if your life is better because of those friends, well, nobody should fault you for that.
