[ The colors, the lights, and the sounds are both exciting and a little overwhelming. While the screams are great, the crowd itself isn't something he's used to. There is a sweet smell he wants to investigate, and some rides that look like they would be interesting. ]

What do you usually do first?

[ Look babe, you get to take the lead here. He stuffs his hands in his pockets, but is standing close enough to brush his arm against John's. ]

[It's early enough in the night that there is still plenty of time for fun, and there certainly is a lot to do. Games, food, rides, you name it. John himself hasn't been in a couple years, and the smile on his face goes from ear to ear.]

It's time to introduce you to the wonders of fair food. Come on.

[He's going to grab for Vanitas' arm to tug him along, even if his hand is in his pocket. Time to go find a funnel cake stand.]

We just got here and you already want to stick something in my mouth.

[ Giving a smirk at that. Letting himself be lead over to the stand before pulling his hand out of his pocket to snag his hand instead. Look, they can be public so he's going to make the most out of it.

The fried smell with the sweet should be illegal though. It smells great. Peeking over at people's plates full of a swirly looking thing with powder sugar or nutella all over. ]

We might need to get two.

You know it!

[They can indeed be public! They're in a small town far away from anyone in the Foundation, so they don't have to be agents for the night. They can be a couple of teenagers on a date at an amusement park, and nobody would ever know otherwise.

John has a big grin on his face as he tugs Vanitas along, reluctant to let go of that hand now that it's been offered.]

Let's get one regular and one with strawberry on it, then. That way you get the best of both worlds.

[The fried dough is the best part, though. Toppings are secondary to that.]

[ It is nice being without any expectations or the risk of death looming over. He honestly doesn't know if he's ever felt like this himself.

Lacing their fingers together then. They are used to sharing an utensil anyways and food, so they can do this both being one handed. The line seems pretty quick, too. ]

Sounds good. If you ask nicely, I'll consider sharing.

[ Bringing their hands up to press a kiss against his knuckles. It's easier to ignore all the surrounding rabble when they're close like this. ]

[It's very easy to forget the world and just narrow the view down to the two of them. That's how John grounds himself when he starts to feel overwhelmed.

He has the sugar funnel cake in his hand, and he holds it up to offer a bite to Vanitas.]

How about I share first, then?

[ The feeling when you expect your date to pull a prank of some kind. Just going to go for the bite anyways. He won't waste funnel cake, right?

And it's warm, sweet, and powdery. Licking his lips to try to get the powder sugar. It's good. Really good. ]

Definitely not sharing.

[ :D ]

[He's totally going to lean in to try to take a bite from Vanitas' funnel cake.]

[ WOW. Pulling it back and just going to see if he can steal a kiss instead. Distraction. ]

[The distraction is effective! And John doesn't seem to be complaining about the sudden kiss instead of sweets. Probably because that kiss tastes sweet too.

When he pulls back, he licks his lips.]

Mmm, so you can share after all?

[ It's tempting to explore this a little more... his attention is drawn to John's mouth for a little longer before he offers his up. ]

Maybe with the right motivation.

[ Kissing after bites is definitely the right kind. ]

[John will go ahead and take a big bite, then. The bite is chewed and swallowed, but traces of the sugar and strawberries remain on his lips. Lips which he puckers up and makes a kissy face at Vanitas with before he speaks.]

Motivation like this?

[ Pfft. Stop. ]

You're such a nerd.

[ He'll take it though. Just going to lean in to lick John's lips. That's totally what he had in mind, right. ]

[Well it's sharing, but it's not quite the kiss he had been hoping for.

But instead of pouting, he attempts to shove as much of the funnel cake into his mouth as he can. Try taking a bite now.]

[ Look, that's what happens when you make dumb duck lips. It's worth it up until John is trying to shove more into his mouth.

Taking that as an invitation to kiss him and take some of that back with his tongue. ]

[Gosh Vanitas, not in the middle of a crowded fair!

Except John isn't doing anything to deter Vanitas, and is instead meeting those lips and kissing back enthusiastically. Careful not to drop any of the funnel cake! Because John sure isn't paying attention to it anymore.]

[ Not dropping it because strawberries are involved, but it is tempting. He really wants to hold him. Distantly, he can hear someone protesting their display, but he doesn't care. The noises around them dims as he focuses on the taste and going for that tongue instead of the funnel cake. ]

[John doesn't really hear that first protest, because he is too wrapped up in what Vanitas' tongue is doing. Those fingers of theirs that are laced together are about to get squeezed a bit too, because John is holding onto Vanitas now and is reluctant to let go.

The second protest of "Come on, there's kids here!" is what gets John to pull away and look a bit sheepish.]

Heh, sorry.

[Is that for the people nearby, or for Vanitas? It is a mystery.]

But I take it you like the funnel cake?

[ It's good both of his hands are occupied because he would be flipping someone off. John is pulling away and he's feeling a little slow to react at first. His heart is pounding, and he's licking his lips before remembering oh yeah funnel cake. ]

It's good. [ The kiss and the treat. ] Maybe we should sit down before we take another bite.

[ Giving his hand a squeeze and just going to start leading them over to the tables. ]

Maybe we should sit down before we get kicked out of the fair.

[he says that cheekily. He doubts they would actually get kicked out for just kissing, but he also knows how quickly Vanitas' hands can end up wandering.

But hey, there's a table! And John will go ahead and slide onto the bench right there and start to scarf down his funnel cake.]

[ He is torn on if he minds being kicked out so soon. There's still more to explore and try, but the kissing is great.

Also it's not like he's the only culprit here. Taking the seat next to him to him. ]

Stop distracting me and we won't be kicked out.

[ He says that as he drapes an arm across John's back. Going to dig into the funnel cake though. ]

Okay, if that's what it takes.

[And he's going to just eat his funnel cake and not get affectionate at all. He won't even lean against Vanitas when that arm goes around his back.

Yes, he's doing it purely to see what Vanitas does.]

[ Wow.

If he wants to play it like that though, he's just going to move his hand lower down his back until it rests on his rear.

And just going to keep biting like he's not doing a thing. ]

What happened to not getting kicked out?

[He says that as soon as he feels the hand on his butt.]

Not my fault you're always distracting.

[ Also he doesn't like not getting a reaction. Giving his butt a squeeze. ]
