[unfortunately, Shujin Academy isn't exactly known for decorating during the Christmas holidays. who the heck knew why. . . maybe they were trying to maintain their no-fun-allowed, everyone-is-kind-of-stuck-up, prestigious prep school reputation? either way, it meant that Akira kiiiiind of had to sneak a little holiday contraband into the school grounds in order to execute his Super Secret Plan (TM)]

[(it's not a super secret plan. he just literally bought some mistletoe from the flower shop at which he works and stuck it into his bag. it's not like it was hard!1)]

[. . . but anyway. the final bell of the day as rung and Akira, being the delinquent he is, has no school clubs to attend. which means he's hanging out near the school entrance, leaning his shoulder against the door frame as he runs his fingers down the strap of his bag and waits for Rin to swing by for their daily walk home]

[It may not be a Super Secret Plan, but it's secret enough that Rin is not expecting it at all. In fact, he's more focused on the paper in his hand, which he is frowning intensely at.

[But when he looks up and sees Akira, his expression instantly brightens up. Because Akira has that effect on him, any day becomes better when they get to walk home together.]

[Akira brightens as well, pushing away from the door frame to greet Rin with a two-fingered salute]

[. . . but it's clear he's teasing, despite his deadpan expression, especially when he steps forward and knocks his shoulder against Rin's]

[Ozy wasn't sure how or why he was summoned to the current period to work with an exorcist, but he seemed surprisingly unbothered by the idea. Sure, some servants may have had questions or needed to work on getting used to the new world. Ozymandias seemed to, on the other hand, easily slide into life in this new world. It, perhaps, helped that he had such a handsome man to look at while adjusting.

Today, he's sitting in Shiro's apartment, humming lightly and dressed all casual when the door opens and Ozy gets to see his master return home. Laughing loudly as he stayed comfortable, taking up the entire couch.]

Shiro! You were gone for far too long. If you had stayed out a moment longer, I would have to come and hunt you down to take home.

[And he would.]

Are you home for the night now? Or will I be forced to follow you somewhere this time?

[Shiro did not like having a 'guest' in his apartment. Mostly because he was 29 and hated having anyone in his apartment violating his privacy. He's a grumpy grump who just plain doesn't get along with most people unless your name is Yuri Egin and you spent literally a decade worming your way into his heart.

But Ozy has not done anything personally to earn Shiro's ire, it's just how he is. So while Shiro is grumpy about people being in his space, he can also take a moment to recognize just how fucking hot Ozy is. Guys aren't normally his kind of thing, he's more of a 'small girl with a huge rack' kind of guy, but goddamn. Even he can appreciate them abs.

He shuts the door behind him, and he's left staring at the man on his couch.]

...two things. First, how would you even track me down?

And second, where did you get those clothes from?

To answer your second question first! I ordered them using your credit card! I need something to keep me cool, yes?

[Don't worry, though, the jewellery is all his.]

As for how I would track you down, it's quite simply. You see very few people dressed like you. And I would get directions if need be!

[He leans back. Yes, he knows he's attractive. He's had so many wives, and he's certainly never opposed if someone wants to get their hands on him. Especially not someone as handsome as Shiro is to him. He grins and leans forward.]

[In so many ways, the Agency is better than the Mafia ever was or could be. Oda's sure he and Atsushi are agreed on that.

He doesn't know whose fault this is, but he's sure they're having a great time right now.]

Well okay, he understands what a prank is. It's just that his idea of what a 'prank' is happens to be a little...off. It's more along the lines of 'this is dangerous and someone might die' and 'oh god why would you do that', not mistletoe. So he doesn't recognize it as a prank yet.

Also, despite not wearing that collar anymore, he still wears a hoodie with the hood-up. So he's peering out at Oda curiously, his face partially obscured by the shade caused by his hood.]

Mistletoe? Like, the stuff for Christmas?

Right. I think people mostly hang it up at Christmas parties.

[She's drunk. It really doesn't matter what kind of booze, but it was a long day that needed a good few drinks to make better. At first chatty and happy to party, for the last few minutes, Shura has been oddly quiet. Something's on her mind.

At last, she speaks:]

Hey. I heard a coupla' guys talkin' on their break, but I didn't hear the end of it. Onna' had a riddle--what's orange and sounds like a parrot?

[A sip of her drink]

I haven't been able to figure it out an' it's botherin' me!

[Shiro has put up with a lot of bullshit in the last few months. Getting seasick for a week straight had been the previous 'worst of the worst', but this? This was a strong contender for that top spot.

Shiro Fujimoto. Eighteen years old, recently freed from a science lab by a doctor who grew a conscience. Gone from Japan to Australia to hide for the rest of his life, because people are going to hunt him down.

And now he has to deal with the wildlife of 'the bush' while living on a shitty farm in the middle of nowhere. And everything is poisonous or venomous. And the sun itself might kill him if he doesn't keep slathering himself in sunscreen.

He's only been at this farm for a day and he's already tired of it.]

Do we have to stay here?

[Sorry Stein, even if your hot girlfriend runs this farm, he's not cool with it.]

Stein's hot ex-girlfriend is friendly, with a bubbly laugh and a vicious right hook, and her husband is just as friendly, with a passion for good coffee and an occasional sharpness to his expression that hints at more intelligence than someone might expect.

The other kids at the ranch are younger than Shiro, though not too much. Maka is seventeen, with ash-blonde hair, green eyes, a spade-tipped tail, a short pair of dark horns, and enough bossy determination to lead a small army. Soul is the same age, with white hair, a mouthful of shark teeth, and a siren's way with words (if he ever felt like saying more than a few snarky syllables at a time). Crona is slightly younger, thin and skittish, with scars from restraints and needles and a shadow that doesn't want to follow the rules of physics. Kuro Hoshi prefers the literal English translation of his name, Black Star, and likes to stand on roofs and in the top of trees and yell about how great he is at everything, while simultaneously being almost completely useless at everything. Tsubaki is a quiet girl who always somehow has flower petals caught in her hair and clothing, razor-sharp fangs in her gentle smile, and razor-sharp claws on her careful hands.

Marie has a fondness for outcasts and lost souls, gathering children and giving them somewhere to stay where their relation to demons doesn't really matter. Shiro is just the newest addition to this weird little family, and the others are all willing to give him a chance, since they have to.

It's not a place for Stein, and he knows it. Even if he hadn't blown his chance with her all those years ago, he isn't the sort of person who could stay in Marie's circle for long.

"You could always make a break for it," he says, glancing over at Shiro in his sun hat and sunglasses and layers of sunscreen.

"I'm sure you know enough about the outback to survive and get out of here."

It sucks. All of the extra protection for his sensitive skin sucks. The fact that everything on this godforsaken island is trying to kill him sucks. The fact that he can't ever go to a city again sucks. The fact that he has to be careful around anything with a camera, lest his image end up in a database somewhere and get tracked back to the farm, sucks.

The people...suck slightly less than everything else. They're annoying, but not enough to drive him away. Really, they're just loud- especially Black Star- and that loudness is tough to get used to after living in relatively quiet labs. Labs where loudness meant terrible things were happening. Where you wanted to be quiet as a mouse and go unnoticed.

It's going to take a while to break him of his old habits, but the people here might be enough to do it.

"I'm not running off on my own," he says simply. No, this place may suck, but being alone in the outback would suck even more. He could probably survive it, sure, but it wouldn't be pleasant.

LEN GET IN HERE

[So. During the day of the 19th, many hours before the moon will be a problem, Atsushi will be going over to visit Inaba. Because he's on edge and her presence tends to calm him down.

But today, she's playing a phone game, and he's curious.]

I'm playing a new game I downloaded. . . there's a collab going on right now, so I needed to make sure I absolutely played it. [ She looks so pleased as she seems to be poking the screen and if he peers over her shoulder, he'll be able to tell why. Even more when he hears a very familiar voice, saying: "When I see your smile, it cheers me up. I'll have to try my best, too!" ] Ahh, cute. . . [ INABA. ATSUSHI IS LITERALLY RIGHT THERE. ]

[He is absolutely peering over her shoulder at the game, and wow those zippers on the sides of the pants are a good idea. He'll have to remember that for later.]

You just had to play it, huh?

[He sounds a bit cheeky there. Inaba, why so predictable.]

MORE THIRST

[This time they're in Atsushi's room, and Atsushi is sitting on his bed. He's mostly-naked, save for his boxers, and there are some tools on the bed next to him. Tools which are making him blush, because boy does he have plans for them.

But before he can address those, he has to speak to Inaba first. He has to make sure this is still okay, because he needs reassurance that she wants this.]

Are you sure you just want to watch?

I don't mind.

[ She waves her hand pretty dismissively before her lips curl into a rather mischievous grin. ]

Besides, I've never seen a guy do it, so I'm admittedly a little curious.

[It's not his first time doing this- he usually has to 'take care' of himself anyway- but now he's got some performance anxiety. Inaba might notice him turning a bit shy.]

[ It was nice of Chief Fuuga to let them stay a few days after.....the Incident. Especially considering some of the civilians weren't entirely ready to let bygones be bygones about the whole "attacking Wind Tribe members because they were under a glamour spell disguised as Faceless" thing, despite Fuuga vouching for them. People will be people, Azura guesses. She can't blame them for being wary about her group after they almost killed their tribesmen.

So she doesn't leave their lodgings very often, but tomorrow's the day they're leaving for Izumo to talk with Duke Izana. At present, they've got...Sakura and her retainers, Kaze, Rinkah, and Fuuga's adoptive son, who oh-so-graciously volunteered to come with them to be their "aid" for their quest. She has her doubts about how one sorcerer is going to help, but hey--the more the merrier, with their laughably tiny army.

The Wind Tribe isn't really easy on the eyes--cliffs and ropes and rocks, but it has a simplistic feeling to it that she supposes people might find appealing. It's that sort of thinking she's absorbed in while she takes a walk about the grounds, not looking where she's going.

So in the world's most cliche meeting, she bumps right into someone walking across her path. ]

Ow--!

[ and then. she sees it's a man from the Wind Tribe, and she fumbles to put her lance aside, because she wants to appear as nonthreatening as possible. ]

...I'm quite sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going.

[It's rare for John to actually walk anywhere- he vastly prefers his other method of transportation- but he has been keeping his talents secret while the outsiders have been present in the village. If his true gifts are known, it's likely he will be conscripted into the army, and John isn't much of a fighter. He would prefer to stay off of the battlefield, thank you very much.

But while walking through the village, an unfamiliar young woman bumps into him, and he nearly drops the bag he had been carrying. He lets out an 'ah!' as he fumbles with it, but ultimately catches it before its contents spill onto the ground.]

You might wanna keep your eyes open here. A couple apples could go tumbling with little consequence, but the same can't be said of a person.

[He's polite and friendly, despite the collision just a moment ago. No harm no foul, maybe?]

R-Right, yes. [ she takes a step back and tries to get a better look st who she bumped into. A diviner, like Hayato...? But he seems kind of different.]

SOME HOT ODANGO SMOOCHES

[ the only reasons oda invited ango to his place were because it was nearby and because it’s late. other than that, he would have preferred to go to either ango’s latest hotel room or to part ways, rather than show him the small apartment that he called home.

nevertheless, he opens the door, his deadpan face doing a good job of hiding his embarrassment. ]

Sorry for the mess. I didn’t have time to clean up...

[ not that there’s a big mess in the first place. the most notable thing are books that are piled around the book case that is incredibly full, and maybe a few empty cups that were waiting to be washed. ]

I don’t have much either but... we could watch a movie if you’d want. Or maybe I could make coffee. [ he shrugs. ] Whatever you’d like.

It's alright. This was an unplanned visit, and it isn't messy anyway.

[Honestly? There is one thing on Ango's mind right now, and it's not how dirty (or not-dirty) Odasaku's apartment is. Nor is it coffee or movies. But Ango is not one to be blatant with his thirst, so it's going to take time for him to get there. Being indirect and leading Odasaku to that conclusion is preferable. Even in the privacy of an apartment, he still doesn't like speaking frankly.

He will slip off his shoes at the door, though, and then his coat is next to go. The coat is carefully placed on a rack or surface nearby, though, as it has the supplies he brought with him. Fortunately the tube of lube and handful of condoms hadn't been discovered yet, that would have been awkward to explain to literally anyone.]

A movie sounds like a good idea. Do you have Netflix?

[Then they can Netflix and Chill.]

Netflix.... the kids, they have it. [ he nods to himself, absolutely unaware of ango’s intentions. he thinks about the children he takes care of, trying to give them everything that he couldn’t have as a child. starting with a stable home.

not the point, though. he glances at his own tv, which is by no means modern, and can’t help but feel embarrassed. he’s really screwing this up, isn’t he? ]

I don’t even have cable though, now that I think about it. I’ve never needed it. [ he sighs. ] But if you’d want to still stay, the couch is big enough for the two of us.
